Cameron Wade selected to world football team (Times-Transcript-January

Moncton native Cameron Wade, a standout safety with the Acadia Axemen, was selected yesterday to play for the World Team against the United States under-19 national team in an international all-star football game Feb. 2 at Austin, Tex. Wade also played in the inaugural USA vs. World game last January in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The U.S. won 17-0. Moncton defensive back Dylan Hollohan was also a member of the World Team last year. Wade, a Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders product, is one of seven returnees to the World Team. The 45-man World Team, made up of many of the top players aged 19-and-under from Canada, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Japan, Mexico and American Samoa, will face 45 of the top high school seniors in the U.S. Greg Marshall of the University of Western Ontario Mustangs is the World Team head coach. The squad will practise nine times while in Texas from Jan. 28-Feb. 1. Wade was an Atlantic University Sport football conference all-star defensive back with Acadia this past season. |
