New Brunswick New Brunswick Football "Wall of Fame" |
|
Proposal There is a need for Football New Brunswick to recognize players, coaches, officials, builders, etc. who have taken their game to a "high level" and have truly achieved "excellence" in our sport. For example, a number of New Brunswick players have gone on to have significant careers in the Canadian Football League. At present there is no way of recognizing their achievements. The same can be said about a number of coaches who have established dynasties at various levels of football within the province. As well we have produced some extremely competent and respected officials who have frequently been selected to work football games at the highest amateur level in the country. Some of our builders have also accomplished things that would justify their admission to a "Wall of Fame". There may even be teams that merit inclusion in this shrine. The establishment of a "Wall of Fame" need not be an expensive project. A permanent location is required. Ideally we would need permission to use a wall in a restaurant or hotel. Each "Hall of Fame" member would be represented by a plaque bearing their picture and a summary of their achievements. All inductees would receive a duplicate of their plaque for themselves. All "Wall of Fame" pictures and information would also appear on the Football New Brunswick website. The initial list of inductees into the hall would likely have 6-10 names on it. A special dinner would be held to inaugurate the "Wall of Fame" and induct these individuals. After this first induction future admissions would be done at the same function that recognizes the "Football New Brunswick Lifetime Service Awards", "Football New Brunswick Annual Individual Awards" and the "Football New Brunswick Annual Team Fair Play Awards".
Below you will find two pictures of the Fredericton Sports Wall of Fame that
show how a display of this sort could be organized. Also of interest is the
